Examines the work of Freud, Adler and Jung, it looks at what is really meant by 'case history', active imagination' and 'inferiority feelings', and how they relate to personal fictions. This book is Hillman's main analysis of analysis. He asks the basic question, "What does the soul want?" With insight and humor he answers, "It wants fictions that heal."
