Extra Info | : | Sex, Relationships and Attachment: Good Bedfellows or Enmeshed Lovers? with Victoria Settle The dominant model for sexual relationships in Western culture is monogamy, yet divorce rates are high and climbing. What can we learn from exploring how we intimately connect with others, and how this relates to attachment. How can Attachment theory help us to understand the interplay of sex and love better? Throughout the day we will include discussions on erotic transference and various relationship styles (monogamy, polyamory, etc). We will also consider how an exploration of sex and attachment can better help us work with clients who present with difficulties in their relationships, and how we can talk more confidently about different types of relationship and how they relate to our client’s history and attachment needs. This workshop is suitable for experience therapists and therapists-in-training, who are most likely working with individuals, but will be of interest to couples’ therapists also. |
