Extra Info | : | How to Work with Clients’ Private Sexual Lives: Lectures from the Tavistock Relationships Model With Professor Brett Kahr In this seminar Brett Kahr will offer participants insights as to how to address the private sexual lives of their individual and couple clients in a more honest and straightforward manner. The confidence to work in this way will support therapists and counsellors to discover the often hidden, traumatic, unconscious foundations of sexual symptomatology, which often result in complex challenges for clients. Participants will be able to think about how clients might integrate and work through sexual difficulties however they manifest between the couple. Kahr will explore key concepts including the ‘intra-marital affair’, the ‘erotic tumour’, and the ‘conjugal aneurysm’. He will draw upon his multi-decade experience of working with couples to investigate the deep and often traumatic origins of sexual challenges within the relational context. Kahr will share his clinical insights alongside the findings of his work as Principal Investigator of the British Sexual Fantasy Research Project (2002-2008) in which he examined the private masturbatory and coital fantasies of over 25,000 adult participants in both the United Kingdom and the United States of America, undertaken in collaboration with the international polling agency YouGov. |
