Extra Info:Through presentation of clinical material we will reflect on how some philosophical concepts from the work of Merleau-Ponty, Levinas, Foucault, and Butler contribute to psychoanalytic practices which are sensitive to individuals' conscious and unconscious experiences of identities. We will also explore the importance of contributions from autobiography and fiction (Audre Lorde and Eva Hoffmann) to these questions.

oreen O'Connor and Mary Lynne Ellis, co-authors of Questioning Identities; Philosophy in Psychoanalytic Practice (Karnac 2010), are analysts practising in North London. Each with over 25 years' clinical experience they have contributed to a number of analytical trainings. Noreen has a PhD in Contemporary European Philosophy and, amongst other publications, co-authored (with Joanna Ryan) Wild Desires and Mistaken Identities, Lesbianism and Psychoanalysis (Karnac 2003). Mary Lynne has Masters degrees in Art Therapy and in Modern European Philosophy. Her publications include Time In Practice, Analytical Perspectives on the Times of Our Lives (Karnac, 2008).
