This event, a debate between Stephen Frosh, Ian Parker and Christian Dunker, will be held on Wednesday 1 December 2010 at the London School of Economics and Political Science. The talk, to be chaired by Derek Hook, is entitled 'Psychoanalysis outside of the clinic' and will take place in the Hong Kong Theatre from 6.30-8pm.

This debate will discuss the use of psychoanalytic thought, and its limitations, with reference to the world of politics, social psychology, philosophy and psychosocial studies. The event will also serve as a book launch. All three speakers have recently published books discussing the ongoing social and political relevance of psychoanalysis.

Stephen Frosh is the Pro-Vice Master and head of the Department of Psychosocial Studies at Birkbeck College. His book 'Psychoanalysis outside the clinic' is published by Palgrave-Macmillan.
Ian Parker is professor of psychology at Manchester Metropolitan University and is the author of 'Lacanian Psychoanalysis' published by Routledge.
Christian Ingo Lenz Dunker is a professor in the Department of Clinical Psychology of the University of São Paulo, and a practising psychoanalyst. His new book 'The constitution of the psychoanalytic clinic: A History of its Structure and Power' is published by Karnac Books.

Copies of all three of these books will be on sale at the event.
