Psychoanalysis began with the revelation of the role of sexuality in clinical symptomology. Today, in contrast, many currents in psychoanalysis focus on the self or the nurturing relation with the mother and leave sexuality aside. How could we explain this shift in emphasis? Does sexuality still have a central place in psychoanalysis, and if so, what kind of sexuality is at stake? If its privileged domain is the phantasy, what effects does contemporary discourse have and what can we learn from sexual practice itself? This conference will explore these questions from the perspectives opened up by Jacques Lacan.
