| Venue | : | Tavistock Centre, London NW3 |
| Date | : | 08/11/2008 |
| Duration | : | 10am - 12.00 |
| Extra Info | : | In his lecture Fakhry Davids will outline a model of how racism operates in the mind using a contemporary understanding of defensive organisations. Using clinical examples he suggests that a racist organisation is universally present in the mind and involves a characteristic set of defences that protect the individual from intense psychotic anxiety. He will also consider its implications for clinical practice in multicultural settings. Fakhry Davids is a Fellow of the Institute of Psychoanalysis and a Member of the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists. He is in private practice in London, supervises and teaches widely and has a longstanding interest in the psychology of racism. He is currently working on a book on internal racism. |
