Publishing with Karnac

Karnac is one of the few remaining independent mental health publishers in the UK. Having begun publishing psychoanalytic texts in the 1970s we continue to lead the way in diverse fields.

Karnac Publications

Karnac publishes around 80 books a year in addition to our journals. We see ourselves as an important component in the psychotherapeutic world through which new ideas and approaches can find their way to a wider readership.

The Advantages of Publishing with Karnac

You'll find working with us is different to working with a large publisher. We are large enough to have all resources needed to serve our authors and other publishing partners, yet small enough to provide personal attention and responsiveness to authors' needs. The editorial care and attention we can offer makes us stand out from the bigger publishers. We also offer high quality editorial production and printing throughout the production process from the signing of the contract to getting the book onto the shelves.

Submitting Manuscripts

Karnac welcomes submissions from all sources and on all relevant topics. Please send us a curriculum vitae, a one page abstract of the work, an outline of the entire manuscript (table of contents) and some sample chapters. In the accompanying letter, we would appreciate it if you could outline what the primary market would be; when you would be ready to submit the final manuscript; the approximate number of words in the book and, if there any books available at the moment that yours could be compared to, expand on, or challenge.

Please mail all submissions to:
