| Extra Info | : | PROGRAMME OF MATERNAL SEMINARS FOR SUMMER 2012 Thursday, May 24 at 8 pm Melissa Benn Motherhood: Inside, Out Motherhood almost always provokes a crisis/sense of rich opportunity in a woman's life, a profound re-ordering of external - and internal - worlds and a chance for both fruitful development or feelings of unproductive stasis and loss. Melissa Benn, whose 1998 book ' Madonna and Child' examined the politics of modern motherhood in the mid 1990's, returns to these themes in the early 21st century. She reflects on her own personal experience of being a parent over more than a decade and a half, and how, more generally,how women's feelings about motherhood both reflect, and influence, the wider worlds of politics/work/ culture.
