Date:01/07/2016
Duration:1 hour
Delegates:30
Extra Info:TICKET-ONLY EVENT - PLEASE NOTE THIS EVENT IS NOW SOLD OUT

Dr Joseph Aguayo will discuss the life and work of Wilfred Bion, explaining how Bion’s published and unpublished writings add to our knowledge of his clinical theories. He will cover 4 periods of Bion’s work: (1) the war and peacetime group work; (2) the Kleinian work on the psychoses; (3) the epistemology; and (4) the controversial ‘late’ California period of Bion’s Clinical Seminars.

The event will be held at Karnac Books, 118 Finchley Road, London, NW3 5HT. If you are coming by tube, our shop is opposite Finchley Road station, which is on the Metropolitan and Jubilee lines. Please click here for more details about how to find us.

The event will start at 7pm. Doors open at 6.30pm. Tickets are limited and must be purchased in advance - there will be none available on the day - so book now to secure your place.

We anticipate that the talk will last until around 8pm (including a Q&A session) and then there will be a chance to browse among Karnac's extensive bookshelves. All tickets include a glass of wine and nibbles, and the price will be redeemable on the night against any purchase of £24 or more.

Dr Joseph Aguayo is a Training and Supervising Analyst at the Psychoanalytic Center for California, and is also in private practice in Los Angeles. He is a Guest Member of the British Psychoanalytical Society in London and holds UCLA doctorates in both Clinical Psychology and European History. He is co-editor (with Barnet Malin) of Wilfred Bion: Los Angeles Seminars and Supervision (2013).
