The purpose of this book is to reintroduce psychoanalytic and psychodynamic theory to the practice of clinical psychology in ways that are easily understandable, practical and immediate in their application, and supported empirically. Moreover, this book is designed to demonstrate to its readers that psychoanalytic theory affects much of what is done in clincial practice today. Readers will gain a greater appreciation for what psychodynamic theory offers and how they may apply psychoanalytic and psychodynamic ideas toward effective clinical practice.
