This is a life changing book. Hazel Hyslop uses her expertise and great depth and breadth of experience as a psychotherapist and coach, to help anyone who is seeking to find purpose and direction not only in work but in the business of living. The book provides both comfort and challenge. In sharing her own story, the author gives the reader the sense of not being alone in the overwhelm that can come in the difficulties of life, work and relationships. The challenge comes in the call to take responsibility for what happens next. The seven step model provides a clear framework for reflection on where you are, how you got here and where it is that you want to go. The questions at the end of each chapter are both searching and stimulating. I found that journaling my thoughts in response to these questions took as much time as reading the text of the book, which is a testimony to Hazel Hyslop’s thought provoking engagement with the reader. The experience of reading this book made me think of the vesper flights taken by migrating swifts as they ascend to great heights to see thee big picture of their journey and so help them to navigate. This is an exhilarating book which I cannot recommend more highly.

What a wonderful book! As a psychotherapist, I consider this an excellent framework for supporting clients who are struggling with direction and inner-conflict. It is such a pleasure to read and so accessible and jargon-free that I will confidently recommend it to non-professionals with an interest in wellbeing too.
Hazel Hyslop has achieved something very special here with her skilful interweaving of personal experience, client case studies and psychological theory. I found her insights and openness about her own struggles particularly generous and inspirational.
