Betty Joseph demonstrates how she deals with the moment to moment here and now of the analytic session as translated into transference and countertransference issues. Her focus is on how the existing defensive structure tries to protect and maintain itself even as the desire for psychic change persists . She writes with great sensitivity and clarity.
