Dockar Drysdale provides a vivid account of psychodynamic work with severely disturbed Children and Adolescents. One can read this book and need to stop for reflection, as Dockar Drysdales style reminds us so often of patients with whom we have worked and found ourselves lacking. She brilliantly illuminates the testing times and sheer grit required to work with this patient group. Essential reading for all in Residential Child Care and those working with highly disturbed adults, for whom many of Dockar Drysdales theories would be applicable.
