I love the unusual setting for this book. It looks at how civilians are caught up in the start of a war, finding themselves in the wrong places at the wrong times, when normal means of transport and communication disappear, and currency becomes meaningless. It also gives voice to ordinary Belgians, who find their country swiftly and brutally invaded. (and there's a cracking 'will they / won't they' romance to enjoy!)
