'Paradigms in Psychoanalysis is a tour de force in which the author weaves together the story of the unique contributions of Fromm, Ferenczi, and Bowlby - the radicals ostracised by psychoanalysis - who have provided the cornerstone, along with Sullivan, of contemporary relational psychoanalysis. Bacciagaluppi has skilfully linked the work of these pioneers to contemporary developments in neuroscience, infant research, attachment theory, and the contribution they make to our understanding of relational trauma.
