Pierrakos considers Lacan's technique of stringing together preposterous paradoxes, abstruse formulae and aggressive wordplay to be a way of protecting himself from affects and forgetting the true purpose of psychoanalysis by "locking human relations into unaccustomed networks breaking up everyday relations".
