The Trouble with Therapy: Sociology and Psychotherapy

Aims to help those involved in the practice, learning and teaching of counselling and psychotherapy to understand and articulate the contribution of sociological thinking with an emphasis on practice scenarios. This book uses sociology to critique psychotherapy but also provides a synthesis of the two to contribute to a 'clinical sociology'. The book will draw parallels between the individual with psychological distress and dysfunctional societies. Globalisation is a key theme and there are chapters on Self, Power, Communication, Madness, Sexuality, Happiness and Misery.
