Neuro-Disability & Psychotherapy Journal

Neuro-Disability and Psychotherapy: A Forum for the Practice and Development of Psychological Therapies for Neurological Conditions ims to publish articles reporting on psychological therapies of differing orientations (e.g., cognitive-behavioural, compassionate-focused, humanistic, psychoanalytical, narrative, systemic, couples, family, groups and milieu-focused, eclectic/integrative, others), with developmental, acquired and progressive neurological conditions. Innovations and adaptations to existing psychotherapy practice in response to neuro-disability are particularly welcome.

Additional Information for Authors

The central aim of the journal is to evolve a knowledge-base on the development and adaptation of psychological therapies in response to neuro-disability. This is a project for all therapy orientations across all neurological conditions, at all points of the lifespan. A submission should have core relevance to this concern, at the very least an elaborated consideration of this topic in the introduction and conclusions sections.

Beyond this we do not stipulate article formats, word lengths, or number of figures or tables. We are keen to encourage diversity and creativity in article submissions, intellectual traditions and research epistemologies and methodologies. Case reports, systematic or conceptual reviews, reflective pieces, controlled trials and other research papers are all very welcome. The length and content of each submission will be evaluated in relation to the aims and scope of the paper, and its accessibility for the reader. As the readership of the journal is not specific to any one psychological therapy orientation, any particular therapy model discussed in a submission will need to be introduced to those unfamiliar with the model and terms/language used made accessible to the new reader.

The checklist below is taken from the document used during blind review of submissions. Please use this as a guide for quality evaluation when preparing the manuscript. For specific guidance on heading formatting and referencing style, see ‘Instructions To Authors’.
