| Extra Info | : | Description: The Singing, Ringing Tree was broadcast as a series of episodes by the BBC during children's peak time viewing in the mid 1960's and again in the early 1970's. Many who saw the film as children were haunted by it long after, the atmosphere and images remaining as present as a powerful childhood dream. This presentation considers why that might be, and what this might reveal about British culture and psychology. Why did the story and images transfix so many young minds in the 1960's and 70's? What was it that the film might have held for the collective? Why did it inspire fascination and/or nightmares in children and teenagers alike?
