This will be an invaluable opportunity for professional counsellors, psychotherapists and students to hear Jan Abram and James Rose speak on their subjects.

Prof Jan Abram

'Psychic Survival : Some Further Reflections'

Jan Abram is a psychoanalyst in private practice in London and a Fellow of the Institute of Psychoanalysis. She is presently Visiting Professor for the University of Essex; Honorary Secretary for the Scientific Committee; Deputy Chair of the Foundation Course in Psychoanalysis at the Institute of Psychoanalysis; a consultant psychoanalyst for the London Clinic of Psychoanalysis and a reviewer for the International Journal of Psychoanalysis.
She was Honorary Archivist of the Winnicott Trust (2002 - 2011).
Jan worked for the Squiggle Foundation between 1989 and 2000 and was Director between 1996 and 2000.
Her extensive teachin and lecturing on Winnicott's work led to her writing The Language of Winnicott (1996 first edition: 2007 second edition). She has recently edited Donald Winnicott Today which will be published by Routledge in 2012.
She is a member of the Working Party on the Specificity of Psychoanalysis Today with the European Psychoanalytic Confederation. Her specific area of interest is the development of the concept of psychic survival following Winnicott's theory of 'survival of the object'.

Dr James Rose

'The Isolate and The Stranger - Winnicott's model of subjectivity and it's implications for theory and technique'

James Rose PH.D. is a Fellow of the British Psychoanalytical Society. He is a past Chair of the British Psychoanalytic Council. He has a private psychoanalytic practice in London. For many years he has worked at The Brandon Centre, an inner-city charity specializing in the psychotherapeutic treatment of adolescents and young adults
