Extra Info:My talk includes a personal account of the uses of Attachment Theory in clinical practice. I will show how AT intersects with the Independent and Relational Psychoanalytic approaches, and argue that it provides both a scientific underpinning for psychoanalytic metaphors, and a theory of ''meta-competence'' -- how, when, and what to do and say -- complementary to basic skills.
