Event:BAPPS Spring Conference - The Supervisory Process: A Neurobiological Perspective with Margaret Wilkinson
Venue:The Tavistock Centre, Ground Floor Lecture Rooms, 120 Belsize Lane, London, NW3 5BA
Date:09/05/2015
Duration:9.30am - 4pm
Extra Info:This workshop will give an opportunity to explore a neurobiological perspective as a source of greater understanding of both therapeutic and supervisory processes, and which offers an important means by which practitioners may explore the clinical process and changing nature of the therapeutic alliance as it develops with any given patient. (It also provides an added protection for a vulnerable patient population.) It seems essential that the practice of empathy that is valued so highly by our profession should look to exploring its grounding in the neurobiology of emotion. The processes of mirroring and empathy as they occur in both individual and group supervision will be highlighted to emphasise the relevance of these aspects of the neurobiology of emotion in relation to the countertransference aspects of the supervisory process.
