A British Psychotherapy Foundation three-day non-residential Group Relations Conference.
The Conference is an experiential workshop in the Tavistock tradition (there are no lectures or seminars); it is intended for anyone curious about the way in which individuals function within organisations, and how groups impact on their capacity for thoughtful and effective action. The conference title draws attention to the desire and need for togetherness, but also poses the question as to why it is so hard to achieve. The Conference activities explore issues such as task, authority, accountability and leadership, considering the meaning, limitations and creative potential of taking up a role in the process of working with others.
The overall aim is to assist participants to explore and understand more fully the complexity of organisational processes, in the context of the here and now of the Conference, places of work and the social world.
The Board of the bpf sponsors the Group Relations conference and believes it should be one of the essential elements in the formation of all those who practice in the psychoanalytic field. You will discover the challenge and enjoyment of taking up a leadership or followership role; you will discover what might be your own contribution to the dynamics of the organisations where you work; your experience of the unconscious dynamics of groups will enhance and expand your understanding of the individual one to one transference and countertransference in the consulting room.
The conference will be directed this year by Julian Lousada with Miranda Feuchtwang and Sally Griffin joining him in the directorate; a staff team of consultants will join them in running the event.
Conference fee: before 31st August - £450 (bpf members: £395, bpf trainees: £150); after 31st August - £480 (bpf members: £425, bpf trainees: £212)
